Samoa 2010

A team of 33 students and staff from both the Auckland and Christchurch campuses visited Samoa in October 2010.

Work on the mission trip included:

Jesus DVD distribution and follow-up
school visits
healing meetings
Jesus movie screenings
street evangelism at the markets
leading church services.

God's Power at Work

God moved in a mighty way in the area of healing in the Samoa mission trip. We held 4 healing meetings and saw so many people being healed instantly that we lost count – but the number would have been at least 50. The students also prayed for the sick during the Sunday services and when they went out on their evangelism outreach. During the healing meetings, we invited the local people (including the children) to pray for the sick and they witnessed for themselves the healing power of God. The deaf could hear, the blind could see and the lame could walk. This resulted in people (and in some cases entire families) giving their hearts to God. As the people testified about their healing some cried, some jumped with joy. Many people turned up the day after the meetings wanting to receive prayer because they had heard these testimonies.

Another thing that struck us was how open the people were to the anointing. When people were baptised by Holy Spirit, it took less than a minute for them to start speaking in tongues. Both young and old fell under the anointing. Many confessed to having indulged in witchcraft and they were set free.

Here are some testimonies of people who were healed:

A young girl (15 years old) who had a stroke a few years ago had lost the use of the left side of her body – she could not move her arm, her left toes were curled up and she walked with a limp. After prayer, she could swing her arms around, her curled up toes straightened out and she walks normally now. She could also use her hand to hold objects when in the past her fingers were locked in place.
A young boy (about 5 years old) had been taken to a witch doctor when he was a baby and subsequently turned blind. God miraculously touched this boy and he started to make out shapes and walked confidently without having to feel his way around. His parents re-committed their lives to God.
A man had 2 broken knees after an accident; after prayer, he walked again with absolutely no pain. A man with back problems, possible slipped disk, after prayer for 20 minutes, his back was totally healed and he could twist his back easily with no pain.
Young girl, totally deaf in her left ear for the past 3 years after an infection was prayed for. One of the team, whispered into her ear, “Praise God”: and she repeated the phrase. She was elated that she could hear, both mum and daughter cried tears of joy and praised God!
Man with neck injury and pain in his leg after an accident, was prayed for and had total healing from pain. A young woman, in bed with high fever and pneumonia received prayer and the temperature went down and she went off to dinner with friends.
A young girl, with a swollen left leg and walking/hobbling with a walking stick was prayed for, healing occurred with her walking normally and without a stick. This girl’s dad had severe back problems and intense pain down his left leg that caused nightmares. Four days after receiving prayer, his testimony was “I do not get up at night anymore with pain, I sleep peacefully”; all 3 members of his family were saved.
A man had sores on one foot caused by chemicals from a weed spray. As the team prayed for him, they literally saw the skin start to clear. What was amazing, was that the student was praying against diabetes not knowing why he had the condition – and God still healed.
