Missions Overview

The College Certificate in Christian Ministry programme has a strong emphasis on evangelism and missions.  You will have a great opportunity to be a part of a team in either an exciting overseas mission project or in a challenging local evangelism / missions activity if going overseas is difficult for you.  Students often report their missions experience as being a real highlight of their year and see God move powerfully and miraculously in people's lives.  Since the emphasis of the college is training in practical ministry, we highly recommend that students take part in the optional short term mission trip. Short-term mission trips are about 2-3 weeks and the cost for these is additional. In the Auckland campus, students are involved in fundraiser events to subsidise part of the cost and in Christchurch the students are given the option of organising their own fundraiser events.  To date, Ministry Training College students have gone on short term missions to the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Thailand, Phillippines, Guatamala, Indonesia, Fiji, Malaysia, Samoa, Cook Island and Uganda.

Missions activities typically include:

  • community outreaches
  • reaching out to disadvantaged with practical help
  • praying for the sick and other needs
  • witnessing as God leads (including Treasure Hunts)
  • public showings of gospel movies
  • market place preaching
  • prison visitation
  • outreaches to schools
