Criteria for Entry for Certificate Programmes

TO BE ACCEPTED AS A STUDENT IN THE CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES, YOU MUST

  • Be at least l8 years of age. Applicants who are l7 years old may be accepted on an individual basis at the discretion of the Campus Principal and one other senior staff member.
  • Provide completed Reference Forms (Two forms for NZ citizens and residents, three forms for international students).
  • Submit a correctly completed Enrolment Form.
  • Provide original documentation as proof of identity and nationality, either a Birth Certificate or a Passport.
  • Complete a selection interview process (phone interview for international students).
  • Demonstrate reasonable capacity for successfully meeting the programme requirements.
  • Be living a life free from sexual immorality, criminal activity, serious psychological or mental disorders, alcohol addiction, and illegal drug usage.

Criteria for Entry for Diploma (Internship)  Programme

TO BE ACCEPTED AS A STUDENT IN THE DIPLOMA (INTERNSHIP) PROGRAMME, YOU MUST

  • Meet all the criteria of the Certificate programmes as stated above 

In addition, students will only be accepted into the Diploma in Applied Christian Ministry programme if:

  • They have successfully graduated from the Certificate in Christian Ministry programme or meet the criteria for recognition of prior learning (see below Direct Entry into Diploma) (and)
  • They are approved by their local church pastor for the programme.  This will be evidenced by the required Reference form comments (and) 
  • Their home church is in agreement with conservative Christian doctrine such as the Apostles Creed and the Nicene Creed (and).
  • The student has demonstrated some form of recognised ministry in their local church or para church organisation prior to enrolling in the programme (and)  
  • There is a consensus among the Ministry Training College of New Zealand staff interviewing the student that there is evidence of a call of God on the life of the student for ministry work. 

Direct Entry into Diploma

  • Meet all the criteria of the Certificate programmes and Diploma Programme as stated above 

In addition, students must be able to produce a transcript from another College that shows:

  • The equivalent 120 credits of study at Level 4.  
  • Average coverage of course content that the College has as core components.

or 

  •  Be able to present evidence of suitable competency for Record of Prior Learning.  This will generally require evidence of attending courses (although no credits have been recorded on the NQF), suitable experience in Christian Ministry and a good background in biblical and theological knowledge.
